IDEG and EU to hold conversations on reforms for Ghana’s local government

The Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG) in collaboration with Parliamentary Select Committee for Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and the European Union (EU) will hold a conference on the needed reforms in the local governance system in Ghana

The conference dubbed “Party-based local governance: European Experience and Ghanaian Transition” seeks to enhance Ghana’s local government sector.

The conference which is slated for Tuesday, 25th June, 2019 at 9am, will be the second session of a two-day conversation which will take place at the office of the governance think tank.

According to a press statement issued by the institute, the event provides a forum for reflecting, sharing experiences and insights in the workings of non-party based contra party based local government systems.

The events is also to help promote public education and raise awareness on the issues associated with the forthcoming reforms and the 10th December 2019 national referendum on the amendment of Article 55(3) of the 1992 constitution.
